Northrop Grumman Engineer Quality 2/3 in Buffalo, New York

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Mission Assurance Engineer 2/3 to be located at our Buffalo, NY location. Travel: business travel will be minimal, but may be required on occasion up to 10%.

Put your years of experience into a future of excellence... The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Mission Assurance team to support the Land & Avionics C4ISR Division, Emerging Systems and Strategic Initiatives (ESSI) BU, Amherst Systems Operating Unit.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implement program quality plans, programs, and procedures using statistical quality control, lean manufacturing concepts, and six-sigma tools to assure the highest quality products, services, and solutions throughout the program life cycle.

  • Participates in program technical reviews and the review and approval of associated technical documentation (drawings, specifications, etc). Ensures product acceptance criteria are achievable and quality non-conformances are resolved prior to delivery. Performs Functional and Physical Configuration Audits and First Article Inspections on hardware.

  • Conducts product and process audits and evaluations to support the Quality Management System. Responsible for gathering, analyzing, and producing reports on the Quality Management System as directed to support Organizational Unit, Business Unit, and Division data calls.

  • Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards. Reviews, analyzes and reports on quality discrepancies related to assembly and processing of mechanical, electrical and electro-mechanical systems. Utilize statistical tools to identify trends. Evaluates and dispositions non-conforming material.

  • Investigates problems and develops disposition and corrective actions for recurring discrepancies. Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met. Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents Mission Assurance in cross functional teams to provide solutions to difficult technical issues.

  • Identifies and implements performance metrics. Ability to understand disparate toolsets to extract, analyze, and report on data for Root Cause Analysis to provide status reporting, and trending in order to improve First Pass Yield and prevent recurrence of defects.

  • Some technical background preferred to aide in automation and data normalization efforts.

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field.

  • 2+ years relevant experience in quality, engineering or manufacturing. (0+ years of experience with a master's degree)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including advanced capabilities in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Strong problem solving skills

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field.

  • 5+ years relevant experience in quality, engineering or manufacturing. (3+ years of experience with a master's degree)

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including advanced capabilities in Microsoft Excel

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Strong problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications for Level 2 and 3:

  • Bachelor's Degree in MIS, Quality, Engineering or related field.

  • Ability to perform quality related data analysis

  • Prior Quality engagement across program lifecycle

  • Ability to create and manage databases

  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
