The Launch and Missile Defense Systems (LMDS) division within Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer. The position is located on-site in Boulder, CO. Boulder is nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and only 25 miles from downtown Denver.

Position Overview:

As a Systems Engineer within Advanced Programs, you will be a member of a vibrant team and a primary driver of Research and Development (R&D) solutions. Your responsibilities include researching and identifying solutions to complex, multi-disciplinary problems and communicating your technical approaches and findings effectively. Daily activities include developing prototype solutions to emerging customer challenges, analyzing the performance of newly developed algorithms, and documenting results for customer review. Our team of motivated technical talent works closely with the end user (and each other) to ensure the direct mission applicability of developed products.

The Advanced Programs organization pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in mathematics. Our team is chartered with providing innovative technologies to develop, design, and produce optimized product lines across multiple customers while providing a decisive advantage to the warfighter. Advanced Programs is looking for new members to join our rapidly growing technical team as a Systems Engineer based out of Boulder, CO.

Essential Functions:

  • Performance analysis of tracking and state estimation algorithms.

  • Tool and prototype development using C++.

  • Algorithm defect tracking and resolution.

  • Technical documentation as required.

  • Indept Analysis on Tracking Algorithms & Performance

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer or a Principal Systems Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications for Systems Engineer or Principal Systems Engineer:

  • Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of related experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of experience.

  • Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years experience, or a PhD and 0 years of experience.

  • Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application and is required to start.

  • Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.

  • Experience with C/C++ software language, development tools, and integrated development environments (IDEs).

  • Experience developing in Linux environments.

  • Breadth and depth in the application of mathematics to perform data analysis and algorithm development for military applications.

  • Strong background in applied mathematics: Understanding of numerical optimization and statistical modeling (Stochastic processes); Algorithm design / State estimation

  • Data analysis (Population statistics and Trend identification)

  • Ability to bridge between theoretical concepts and practical implementation, performing associated trade analyses.

  • Experience with Modern C++ and Object Oriented Programming

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance

  • Experience with Python and/or MATLAB

  • Experience working with customers within the Intelligence Community.

  • Experience with tracking algorithms.

  • Familiarity working with Atlassian ecosystem tools.

Salary Range: $87,200 - $130,800

Salary Range 2: $107,300 - $160,900

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
