Northrop Grumman Principal Java Software Engineer/ Sr. Principal Java Software Engineer in Boulder, Colorado

The Task Order 1 team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Principal Software Engineer/ Sr. Principal Software Engineer based out of Boulder, CO.

What You'll get to Do:

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with other teams (Sys Admin, Integration & Verification, etc.) in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for products solving our customer requirements.

Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met. Develop supporting technical documentation including requirements and design documents and end user operational instructions.

This position may be filled at either a level 3 or a level 4 based on skills/qualifications.


Basic Qualifications for a Band 3:

  • Familiarity with DevOps

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree with 5 year's software development experience; 3 years with Masters; 0 years with PhD

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

  • Thorough knowledge of Java, C++ and Linux

  • Experience SOA and threaded applications

  • Familiarity with frameworks.

Basic Qualifications for a Band 4:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree with 9 year's software development experience; 7 years with Masters; 4 years with PhD

  • Active Top Secret Clearance

  • Proven track record of project leadership role.Team leadership skills required including: Earned Value Management (EVM), Cost Account Management (CAM), tracking/managing team member assignments, mentoring, interfacing with program leadership or related skills.

  • Knowledge and experience (from optimal to least optimal): Java, JUnit, Maven, Eclipse, XML, Jenkins, RESTful WS, JSP

  • Knowledge of Linux and scripting languages (BASH, python, perl)

  • Demonstrated experience with full-stack development

  • Experience SOA and threaded applications

  • Familiarity with frameworks.

  • Automated test experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • AWS development experience

  • GIT or similar configuration management tools

  • Demonstrated experience developing and deploying serverless software in a cloud environment

  • Top Secret/SCI clearance with CI Poly

  • Systems engineering experience including requirements analysis and able to interface with non-technical customers

  • Agile development experience

  • Expertise in JavaBeans or Eclipse

  • Independent research and development experience

  • Experience with developing Java applications that include Oracle APIs.
