Northrop Grumman Mgr Systems Engineering 3 - Operating Unit Business Facing Lead in Boulder, Colorado

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) seeks to fill a Manager Level 3 Operating Unit Business Facing Lead for Engineering, Sciences & Technology (ES&T). Business facing lead provides an integrated perspective across multiple programs. The candidate understands how ES&T is structured including stakeholders, to address the business area needs as they relate to staffing, program performance, tools, and process. The Business Facing Lead (BFL) role was created as a clear interface, a single point of contact, between the divisions and ES&T leaders at every level of the organization from GM to PM. The BFLs tier into the ES&T Product Development and Technical Execution organization.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the Overhead Persistence Infra-Red Exploitation Systems Operating Unit (OPIRESOU) Director, the Director of the Engineering, Business Facing for Space ISR Division, the Strategic Force Programs BU BFL, and the Director of Space Park Engineering, ES&T Western Region

  • Perform the business facing role for the Space ISR, Overhead Persistence Infra-Red Exploitation Systems Operating Unit

  • Staffing and workload forecast; employee inclusion, engagement, mentoring and career development; employee training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs

  • Provide program status and staffing metrics information on a regular basis

  • Review proposals and BOEs for staffing needs, engineering execution, and command media compliance

  • Provide functional support to the Engineering Managers in OPIRESOU (performance assessment, career development, process & tool awareness and training)

  • Act as a conduit for information single point of contact to collect and represent integrated needs across OPIRESOU

  • Complement technical and mission experience with a well-developed understanding of how ES&T is structured and how to connect dots efficiently

  • Work collaboratively with the leadership team (programs and engineering functional organization) to align strategic objectives with design implementation to satisfy Customer requirements and ensure successful transition to production

  • Partner with programs, capture, and proposal teams, to ensure effective implementation and compliance with command media with access to broader resources to address gaps or challenges with detailed knowledge of the program and situational awareness to set context and support tailoring

  • Provide detailed oversight of division related program / NCTA / capital execution in compliance with ES&T process

  • Engage in proactive identification of risks / issues and development of mitigation plans in coordination with program team and functional homeroom

  • Provide senior ES&T leadership and surge support for fire-fighting activities

They will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. The candidate will work closely with the directors and managers of Business Units, Operating Units, other engineering disciplines, program directors and program managers. The ideal candidate will also be able to champion change within the organization, to achieve competitive advantage for the business.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical discipline and a minimum of 10years related experience in software and/or systems engineering

  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen with a current Top Secret/SCI clearance

  • Experiencein technical problem solving, to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implantation and monitoring

  • Proven demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Program management experience for a complex ground or space program

  • Experience in identifying and capturing new business opportunities

  • Prior experience in new business development/proposals

  • Detailed knowledge of the Space ISR, strong knowledge of Overhead Persistence Infra-Red Exploitation Systems Operating Unit (OPIRESOU) in Boulder, CO
