Northrop Grumman in Bethpage, NY is seeking multiple Systems Engineers Level 3/4 to fill roles on the EA-18G Growler Block 2/NGJ Programs.

As the lead developer of Systems Engineering Products for some of the most advanced USN Platforms in the U.S. arsenal, Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is a world leader in advanced systems and design. These include platforms such as EA-18G Growler and Next Generation Jammer.

Leveling Factors:

  • General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks.

  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned

  • Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Works under general supervision.

  • Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or inadequate work product should be detected by supervisory oversight but may cause delay in program schedules and allocation of additional resources

  • Primarily internal company contacts. Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Required to develop system specifications derived from customer requirements. Duties will include data analysis, system issue resolution, test derivation/validation, as well as supporting lead systems engineers for design and modeling tasks.

  • Responsible for decomposing USN customer requirements into deployable system architectures that interact functionally with the overall USN platform architecture using a USN approved requirement management tool (DOORS).

  • Candidate must be able to work closely with our USN counterparts as well as coordinating detailed system analysis with various technical experts throughout systems (i.e. Thermal, Reliability, Logistics, Program Management, and Air Vehicle).Some travel required for meetings and program support, as well as test and evaluation of system performance during deployment.

  • Ability to understand technical documents and interpreting different specifications from various vendors and suppliers and interact with stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of the program.

  • Must be self-motivated, and have the ability to work semi-independently to accomplish goals. Must be capable of understanding a complex problem, developing an approach to solve it, and implementing that approach.

Basic Qualifications Principal Engineer:

  • T03 / Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience, Master's degree with 3 years of experience, or a PhD with 0 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical fields.

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain or maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance

  • Proficiency with engineering programming languages preferred (e.g. C/C++, MATLAB) and Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Analytic problem solving, the ability to proficiently use computer tools to process data, good communication skills (both written and verbal), and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Systems engineering and/or Avionics experience working on USN Receiver/Weapon Systems Platforms

  • Experience with Electronics Surveillance Measures (ESM), Electronic Counter Measures (ECM) and/or Jamming Equipment on USN military platforms.

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher

Basic Qualifications Senior Principal:

  • T04 / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer: Bachelor's degree with 9 years of experience, a Master's degree with 7 years of experience or a PhD with 4 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, or related technical fields.

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain or maintain an active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance

  • Proficiency with engineering programming languages preferred (e.g. C/C++, MATLAB) and Microsoft Office suite (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Analytic problem solving, the ability to proficiently use computer tools to process data, good communication skills (both written and verbal), and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

T his position is contingent upon the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance and Contract Award

Salary Range: $104,600 - $157,000

Salary Range 2: $129,700 - $194,500

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
