Northrop Grumman Sr Principal Engr S/W - Cloud Development - Agile Environment in Beavercreek, Ohio

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS), Beavercreek Ohio, is seeking Sr Principal Software Engineer. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong technical skills in designing, developing cloud solutions for enterprise systems for DoD/IC missions. He/she will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required and the ideal candidate will have demonstrated success collaborating and developing software for large scale programs in AWS or Azure or similar platforms. This candidate will demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal and technical capabilities. He/she will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. The candidate will work closely with other software developers. The Software Engineer will work closely with other developers to accomplish the following:

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.

Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired result

Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.

Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math discipline; 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.

  • 4-8 years of cloud development, infrastructure, and deployment experience

  • Deep cloud domain expertise in: architecture, big data, micro-service architectures, cloud technologies, data security and privacy, tools, and testing

  • Excellent programming skills in Java, Python, JavaScript, C++, and web technologies

  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture, micro-services, virtualization

  • Experience in cloud services: SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS

  • Experience developing software in various cloud environments, cloud storage

  • Experience in big data solutions and analytics

  • Experience with Agile development processes / Product Owner

  • Knowledge of DevOps/DevSecOps

  • Experience with debugging tools and testing mechanisms

  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with small technical teams.

  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment.

  • Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results.

  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.

  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain DoD Top secret security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

-Master of Science in Computer Science

  • AWS Certification such as a Solutions Architect Expert, or Azure certifications, Azure Fundamentals, data scientist, developer, etc.

  • Experience with secure coding best practices and methodologies, DoD/IC DevSecOps in Agile Environments .

-Experience with design and implementation of high-availability systems: hot spare/failover mechanisms, load balancers, distributed systems, stateless communication protocols, scalable polyglot data stores

-Experience with implementation and integration of micro services, micro service orchestration frameworks, REST API's, and interface protocols

  • Demonstrated the ability to develop complex designs from concept and implement solutions. Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers
