Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a talented Staff Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in the Baltimore Center of Excellence (CoE) factory quality operations based in Linthicum, Maryland. The qualified applicant will provide Quality Engineering support for our Mechanical Design and Fabrication and Assembly Cell Areas.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Establish strong technical knowledge in quality engineering, specifications/standards, drawing interpretation, measurement and analysis methods, processes and products, and relevant technologies

  • Identify and resolve complex technical and quality problems, issues, and defects through problem solving methodology, root cause investigation and corrective action implementations

  • Participate in DFX initiatives and lead continuous improvement factory wide

  • Ensure that correct and effective metrics are utilized to improve product compliance, risks and quality performance across the factory

  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures

  • Ability to coordinate/collaborate with external quality teams in data gathering, problem solving, and risk mitigation

  • Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications

  • Regularly communicates program execution status and quality metrics to a wide audience of professionals and leadership

  • Reviews and evaluates non-conforming material for compliance to drawings, specifications, and standards

  • Provides engineering and manufacturing support for the inspection and quality engineering organization

  • Uses LEAN concepts and Six Sigma tools as aides to problem resolution

  • Mentor and provide guidance to team members and less experienced personnel

  • Applies advanced technical principles, theories/concepts, policies and industry standards

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor ' s degree in engineering or other technical field such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering

  • 9+ years of related experience in supporting systems engineering, systems integration, mechanical engineering or program management (7+ Years related experience with Masters; 4+ Years related experience with PhD)

  • Solid written and verbal interpersonal, communication skills and confidence to brief senior management with solid foundation in Quality and Mission Excellence applications

  • Previous experience working in quality, engineering, or manufacturing

  • Experience with a manufacturing execution system such as SAP

  • Experience leading projects and/or teams

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 I AS9100 Quality Management System certification process and J-standard requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a D.O.D. Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master ' s degree in a related field

  • Ten years ' experience in a leadership role in the Aerospace Industry

  • Five years working in quality, supply chain, program management, engineering, business, or manufacturing

  • Five years SAP experience

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance

  • Demonstrated experience integrating with multiple departments

  • Familiar with structured light measurements and analysis

  • Experience utilizing PCDMIS and inspecting product on CMM's

  • Experience with open setup measurement techniques

  • Familiar with (or certified in) Non-Destructive Evaluation techniques and requirements

  • Experience with inspection and vacuum fixture design

  • Experience working in the Additive Manufacturing and/or Aluminum Vacuum Brazing fields

  • Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt certification

  • Project Management certification
