Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located at Linthicum, MD. The Quality Engineer will support the Supplier Performance Management organization covering BWI campus Factory SQ interests.
Perform Specification Compliance Reviews, Drawing review. Assist with First Article Inspections per (AS9102 or equivalent) and Source inspections.
Oversee supplier part issues found at shop floor in the BWI factory (manufacturing) operations
Initiate Corrective Action Plans and work with suppliers, manufacturing and engineering personnel to identify root cause and ensure robust corrective actions are implemented.
Work with program facing personnel to find solution for nonconforming parts (eg. Scrap part, send back to supplier to be reworked, or rework in house)
Support process and product audits along with capacity assessments to ensure the supplier's processes are robust and capable.
Work with program/field ops to do quality inspections on nonconformance to determine path forward
Review Purchase Requisition and Purchase Orders for quality Notes flow-down to supplier
Perform Supplier performance management by analyzing performance data, and identifying opportunities for improvement
Preventing/Minimizing business impact from supplied material defects; supplier quality risk mitigation
Write quality notifications as needed to document nonconformance
Maintain quality notifications developed from shop floor issues (eg. Providing enough information to completely understand issue, providing photo evidence for supplier, etc...)
Proactive reduction and prevention of supplied material defect occurrences and verification of supplied material defect claims
Use data backed evidence to implement different procedures where needed to optimize production (eg. Helping with Return to Green plans)
Track analytics to show where processes are improving/impeding production
Strong communication skills (both oral and written) will be necessary to support the assignment and weekly reports.
Be able to analyze and present data to Director level Management.
collaborate and foster positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams
Bachelor's Degree in a related STEM Field
2+ years of experience in products manufacturing processes
Experience with AS9100/AS9102/Equivalent (standardized quality management system for the aerospace industry)
Experience in products/material root cause analysis and corrective action
Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance. US Citizenship required.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering
Familiar with FAR or DFAR or DOD or MIL standards ( MIL-STD-271, MIL-STD-2035, & MIL-STD-278)
Experience collaborating with external suppliers and internal teams
