Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is currently seeking a Sr. Principal Manufacturing Engineer (level 4), to join our team in Azusa, CA.
Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for wire harness and cable assemblies. Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout.
Selected candidate will be able to design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the wire harness & cable fabrication, including tools and equipment that affect product performance. Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of wire harness/cable fabrication related machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 9 years of related experience OR Master's Degree in STEM with 7 years of related experience OR PhD STEM with 4 years of experience in wire harness and/or cable production assembly/fabrication
Must have a current active DOD interim Secret Clearance (minimum) to be considered.
Experience in a fabrication and/or assembly manufacturing environment
Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Experience with using Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project, Visio)
Ability to travel 10-15% of the time
• STEM Degree (Science, Technical, Engineering, or Mathematical)
• Current active DOD Secret Clearance (minimum)
• Solid modeling design skills (e.g., CREO, NX Siemens, CATIA or Solid Works)
• Ability to demonstrate independent creative thinking and problem solving capabilities
• Manage multiple projects concurrently in meeting customer requirements/expectations
• Experience in the development, capture, and execution of wire harness/cable technology capabilities. Assessing maturity of new technology for transition to production
• Experience with authoring work instructions, technical documents, and procedures
• NASA 8739.x and IPC workmanship
• SAP Manufacturing Execution System
