Northrop Grumman Space Systems sector is seeking a Systems Engineer (Level 3 Principal or level 4 Sr. Principal) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in support of the Next Generation OPIR Polar Ground System. This position will be located in Azusa, CA or Redondo Beach, CA. This position will be on a hybrid schedule where most of the work will be done on-site, but we can accommodate partial teleworking upon business/program need.
In this role you will support a team of engineers to perform requirements definition, development, decomposition and tracing, system integration, verification, and validation and supportability and effective analyses for a satellite ground system. Candidate is expected to have exceptional critical thinking skills capable of working with system architecture teams and subject matter experts within systems, hardware, and software engineering. Candidate will also perform analysis at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, test, installation, operation, and maintenance; and ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. System engineering assignments include generation of System Requirements Documents, maintenance of Interface Control Documents, preparation of test plans, procedures and reports, performance analysis, requirements decomposition and allocation, traceability analysis, compliance mapping, risk management, and support of peer reviews of design and test documentation. Candidate will evaluate changes to system and sub-system specifications and assess impact of proposed changes.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Apply knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
• Participate in all aspects of Systems Engineering throughout the full program lifecycle (concept definition, design, and test), using model based systems engineering (MBSE) methods
• Assist with definition of high level functional and performance requirements and verification methods, subsequent analysis, decomposition, and derivation of requirements, allocation of those lower-level requirements to physical and functional architectural elements, and tracking them through design, verification, and integration
• Partner with subject matter experts and technology experts to execute the systems engineering statement of work
Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience
Proficiency in DOORS, understanding in requirements decomposition, experience in DOORS maintenance/updates
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Systems Engineer:
Bachelor's degree in STEM with 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in STEM with 7 years of relevant experience
Expertise in DOORS, experience in requirements decomposition and DOORS maintenance/updates
Active DoD Secret Clearance
Salary Range: $104,600 - $157,000
Salary Range 2: $129,700 - $194,500
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
