Northrop Grumman Payload & Ground Systems is seeking a Café Worker to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Azusa, CA and will be responsible for cooking, serving, prepping, delivering, catering, mixing, stocking, cleaning, dishwashing, and sales of food and related products and beverages at an on-campus cafeteria. This role will be on the 1st shift either starting at 5AM or 6-6:30AM.

Following prescribed methods, processes, and recipes, this position performs a combination of tasks involved in preparing, setting-up and serving meals, special meals, luncheons and buffets in the cafeteria and surrounding buildings throughout the facility.

Work Performed:

• May, under the guidance of the Chef or Food Service Manager, prepare specific foods and operate the grill and other commercial cooking appliances.

• Prepares and serves various types of food, desserts and beverages for cafeteria and catered requests.

• Deliver and pick up catered requests.

• Assists in the handling of incoming supplies and material. Stock serving line and/or storage areas.

• Maintain ample supply of dishware and utensils in serving area remove/return empty items to appropriate kitchen area.

• Maintains the cafeteria in a clean and orderly manner. Performs housekeeping duties necessary to maintain the cafeteria in a clean and orderly manner such as cleaning tables, chairs, floors which includes sweeping/vacuuming dry goods rooms and carpeted areas of cafeteria, dishwashing equipment, cooking stoves, hoods, conveyors, slicer, etc.

• Will be required to work in a team environment and train new employees.

• Performs related and incidental work assignments as required. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Observes company, Cal-OSHA, and Public Safety and Health Department regulations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school or equivalent or GED

  • One (1) plus years cooking or related food handling experience

  • Requires the ability to perform physical work commensurate with above job description.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license that meets the California Vehicle Code.

  • Requires the ability to work around stoves, ovens and dishwashers and to lift large coffee runs for delivery.

  • Must have basic computer skills.

  • Must be able to perform all essential job functions and environmental/physical considerations per Employee Requisition.

  • ServeSafe (or equivalent) Food Handling Certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic cash handling skills. This position will perform cashiering duties, as required.

  • Ability to check Food temperatures and/or prepared areas for daily operations. Maintain HACCP compliance.

  • Ability to serves food items to customers from counters and/or steamtable, in accordance with specific instructions, and safety and sanitation protocols. Ensures that appropriate portions are served, adds relishes and garnishes according to instructions.

  • Ability to attend to day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies, detects and ensures disposition of spoiled or unattractive food, defective supplies/equipment, and/or other unusual condition.

  • Culinary school graduate or experience strongly desired.

  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment and/or services ordering and inventory control.

  • Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions

  • Ability to understand and follow safety procedures.

  • Ability to safely use cleaning equipment and supplies

  • Ability to train new members

  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy objects

  • Knowledge of food service lines set-up and temperature requirements

  • Skill with cooking and preparing a variety of foods

  • Knowledge of food preparation and presentation methods, techniques, and quality standards.
