Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is looking for you to join our team as a Principal Software Engineer/ Sr Principal Software Engineer based out of Aurora, CO.

Job Duties:

Software Engineer to work the on development, integration, and maintenance of a complex SW system for a mission focused customer. Solving real world user experience as well as faster and more reliable build, test, release challenges a priority. Candidate must possess the ability to work as a member of a small, highly skilled team in a dynamic environment and participate in systems design, code development, GUI updates, unit testing, code reviews, debugging, and integration and test of modifications/enhancements into an evolving baselines. The position also requires an individual with the ability to work on technical challenges and to provide innovative solutions, to include system-troubleshooting, implementation of new capabilities for future versions of the system, and support test and documentation. Candidate must have the ability to interact with end-users, customers, and other developers, as well as good written and verbal communication skills. Experience conducting multidisciplinary research and collaborating with designers and hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and usage of the software product. Experience analyzing system capabilities and resolving problems on program intent. Ability to guide the successful completion of major program objectives by applying extensive technical expertise and knowledge of other related disciplines a plus.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Software Engineer/ Sr Principal Software Engineer

Basic Qualifications:

For a Principal Software Engineer : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree with 5 + years of software development experience; 0 years with a Master's; or 6 years of software development experience in lieu of a degree.

For a Sr Principal Engineer Software : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other STEM related degree with 9 + years of software development experience; 3 years with a Master's; 0 years with a PhD; or 9 years of software development experience in lieu of a degree.

•Java, C#, or C++ development experience

•Knowledge of object oriented design

•Knowledge of software lifecycles

•Experience with version control software

•Experience with SQL database i.e. (Oracle or Postgress)

  • Active Secret clearance or higher (required to start)

• Must be able qualify for and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

•8+ years of Java, C#, or C++ development experience

•Experience developing enterprise solutions for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) in a SOA environment

•WorldWind experience

•Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

•Experience developing on Microsoft Windows

•Experience with issue tracking systems. (Jira)

•Experience developing using Eclipse or Netbeans

•Experience with version control software (git)

•Experience developing and using schemas and XML and related technologies (i.e., XPath, XSLT, XSD)

•Previous Agile development experience and/or Certified Scrummaster

•Active TS/SCI security clearance
