Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Business Development Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The preferred candidate will report to the Undersea Systems Business Development and Strategy Director and possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of the domestic military/government undersea warfare market and customer set. As a Business Development/New Business Capture Lead, the candidate will develop strategies and implement actions that will expand the undersea warfare business base within the business unit.
Activities will include the capturing of new business and upgrade/modernization program opportunities, penetrating adjacent markets by referencing in-house competencies, leading proposal development/pricing efforts, and working in partnership with multiple internal functional organizations. The candidate will be accountable for meeting the Long Range Strategic Plan, the Annual Operating Plan and new business acquisition objectives. Candidates must develop a detailed knowledge of the customer’s needs and their dynamics, the DoD acquisition process, and an understanding of the competitive landscape.
The candidate will work very closely with the program management staff to develop strategies to position the business unit for success and should possess skills including the following:
The ability to persuade internal and external customer sets.
Keen business sense and ability to solve complex business development problems and situations utilizing ingenuity, innovation and creativity.
The ability to effectively communicate at all levels of internal and external organizations. This will include assisting in the development of advertising and marketing communications materials and representing Undersea Systems interests at industry trade shows.
Minimum of 5 years demonstrated direct or related experience in military DoD applications.
Strong communication and presentation skills, organizational and time management skills, and a strong sales/marketing presence.
Experience in requirements development, program management, procurement/acquisitions and/or technical background.
Excellent customer relationship building and sustainment skills.
Ability to build and manage Business Capture teams.
Current or previously-held DoD Top Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
Minimum of 10 years demonstrated direct or related experience in military DoD applications.
Experience in strategic planning, identifying new opportunities, collecting and analyzing competitive intelligence, developing capture strategies, and mapping customer acquisition strategies.
Relevant experience in the defense acquisition program management area.
Program management and engineering discipline experience.
Strong understanding of military acquisition and requirements generation including organizational structures, processes and business contacts.
Current or previously held DoD TS/SCI Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a CI polygraph.
