Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Network Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located at Annapolis Junction, MD.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Work includes system design, development, delivery, and maintenance in a number of mission-critical domains, including analytics development, information sharing, data transformation and dataflow, malware analysis, and knowledge management.
Duties of the network engineer include providing assistance in all aspects of network management from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks. Analyzes design, specifications, and related documents. Implements communication system requirements to support the distributed functionality of a software engineering environment. Analyzes network characteristics (e.g. traffic connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput), troubleshoots problems, and recommends procurement of and/or modifications to network components.
This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Level (Level 2):
2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters
Basic Qualifications for a Sr Principal Level (Level 3):
5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional network engineering experience on projects with similar network processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
Security Clearance: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph is required. Basic
Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities needed.
One (1) year experience as a network engineer in projects and programs for Government or Industry
One (1) year of direct experience with an intelligence community or signals intelligence activity
Experience planning, design, development, implementation and technical support of multi-platform, multi-system networks to encompass diagnosing network performance shortcomings and designing and implementing performance improvements
Experience designing and implementing networks utilizing the following network operating systems: Windows NT/2000/XP, UNIX, and LINUX
Experience providing and implementing network infrastructures and must have experience developing, operating, and managing networks required to operate in a secure PKI, IPSEC, or VPN enabled environments
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certified at the Associate level with a preference to be professionally certified in Network Security (CCSP), Network Design (CCDP), and/or Routing & Switching (CCNP)
Experience in developing network design through implementation
Experience in configuring network equipment; Experience with network test gear and testing network equipment; Experience in configuring NAT and Routing Protocols
Experience with ethernet trunking and configuring Ethernet VLANs
